Two Types of Wood – Different Properties

Basswood is soft, even, and particularly pleasant to work with. It is excellent for initial carving projects and fine details.

Walnut has a darker, characterful color and individual grain. It is firmer than basswood and creates a particularly elegant and natural spoon.
