Especially when carving, turning, and crafting, small imperfections, rough cut surfaces, or sharp edges often arise. With sanding pads, sandpaper sheets, or sanding mesh, you can specifically work on these areas and cleanly finish your wood project.

What grit for sandpaper?
The appropriate sandpaper grit depends on how much the wood needs to be worked on and how fine the surface should be in the end. For rough imperfections or the first sanding, a coarser grit is used. For a smoother surface, one then works step by step with finer grits.
✔ P80 – Rough sanding
✔ P120 – Intermediate sanding
✔ P180 – Fine sanding
✔ P240 – Polishing / very fine
For a particularly clean result, it is not recommended to start directly with a very fine grit. It is better to sand the wood gradually – for example, first with P80 or P120 and then with P180 or P240. This makes the surface more even and finer.
Sandpaper for woodworking and carving projects
Sandpaper for wood is particularly helpful when carving blanks, figures, edges, or small workpieces need to be finished. After carving, cut marks, rough spots, or small imperfections can be smoothed. A clean sanding is also important before oiling, waxing, or further processing so that the surface looks even.
Sanding pads are particularly suitable for curves, curved shapes, and irregular surfaces. Sandpaper sheets are practical for sanding blocks and flat surfaces. Sanding mesh can be particularly long-lasting depending on the application and is well suited for clean work on wood surfaces.

Usage recommendations
✔ For rough edges and significant imperfections, start with a coarser grit
✔ For smooth wood surfaces, sand gradually finer
✔ Do not press too hard when sanding to avoid deep sanding marks
✔ Change sandpaper regularly when sanding performance decreases
✔ Dust the wood thoroughly before oiling, waxing, or painting
✔ When carving, work particularly carefully on fine details and edges
Important notes
Sandpaper and abrasives should always be selected to match the material and the desired surface. For woodworking, it makes sense to use several grits so that the sanding is even and clean. The finer the grit, the smoother the surface.
