Application / Use
The strop is used after sharpening or in between to maintain the edge of carving knives and other knives. Simply apply some polishing compound to the leather and pull the blade, with the cutting edge facing away from the leather, over the surface. This removes fine burrs, smooths the edge, and improves sharpness.
Especially when carving, a sharp carving knife is important because it cuts more cleanly, is easier to control, and requires less force. Regular knives can also be maintained with the strop and kept sharp for longer.
